What are the different types of moving boxes?

We stock a range of different size self storage boxes and different types of moving boxes for storing particular items. Small boxes are good for smaller heavier items such as books. Medium boxes can hold various items like lamps or kitchen pots. Large boxes are best for light items such as blankets or clothes so they don’t become too heavy. Other types of storage boxes include mirror boxes for safe storage of mirrors, picture frames or glass tabletops. Wine boxes and port a robe boxes can help your packing as well.

How many boxes should I get to move?

How many boxes you need to move varies greatly depending on the number of rooms and just how much is in them. As a general rule, you’re going to want about 5-10 small or medium boxes, and 3-5 large storage boxes for each room.

How heavy should a moving box be?

Choosing the right boxes and watching what you put in them is important. Each box shouldn’t weigh more than 20 kilograms. Remember, you’ll need to be able to move the boxes around even if you’ve hired removalists! Here’s some more moving house packing tips

What packing supplies do I need?

As well as boxes for storage you should have different packing materials for moving or self storage units nearby.
Packing tape to seal boxes is made faster with tape dispensers. Bubble wrap, moving blankets and chair covers help protect your possessions.

The box shop is at the main office of Jim’s Self Storage at 217 Kororoit Creek Road Williamstown. We are just minutes away from Altona, Altona North, Altona Meadows, Newport, Laverton, Brooklyn, Yarraville, Kingsville, Footscray, Seddon, Spotswood, Seaholme, Seabrook, Point Cook, and surrounding western suburbs.

What are the box shop open hours?

The office and box shop are closed on public holidays, otherwise open 7 days a week. Hours are Monday to Friday from 8am-5pm and Saturday to Sunday from 9am-3pm. We look forward to seeing you at our storage box store catering to all of Melbourne’s western suburbs!
